Child held in bath
PA Rotorua A young girl was held under water in a communal bath by a woman, the police said yesterday. Residents at Whakarewarewa intervened when the woman, who arrived at the bath with the girl, aged about seven, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, pushed the girl under water several times and held her there. Local people resuscitated the child, who was admitted to Rotorua Hospital, where she was recovering yesterday, the police said. When the police arrived at the bath the wpman was still in the pool’ She was distressed and had to be removed by an officer. She was placed in psychiatric care for examination. No charge has been laid, the police said.
