Rangers win soccer
Rangers beat Nomads, 3-1, after extra time to win the Canterbury women’s first division knock-out soccer final.
Rangers took the lead when Karalyn Johnston headed home a corner but Nomads equalised through Tracy Van Beek after 70 minutes. Both teams seemed to find renewed strength in
extra time and Rangers took the lead with a fine goal by Debra Hindle. Nomads continued to attack but some sound goalkeeping by Karen Gray thwarted their efforts. Rangers sealed victory with three minutes left when Tracy Hooper finished off a good move along the right wing.
