Russley tourist park planned
By KEVIN TAYLOR A large tourist development will be built in Burnside by an Aucklandbased company if planning approval is given by the Waimairi District Council. Omnium Investments, Ltd, is planning the complex of the land round Lake Bryndwr in Wairakei Road. & A spokesman Jpr the Waimairi Districquouncil
town-planning section said the project would be built in three stages, each taking a year to complete. Stage one would be the construction of 25 camper van sites, 22 cabins, a 100bed tourist lodge, shop, reception office and an artificial lake beside Lake Bryndwr. The spokesman said the company would clean up Lake Bryndwr adl the whole developmentwould
be landscaped. Stage two would consist of a 100-seat restaurant, another 22 cabins, 24 camper van sites and another service block for campers.
The final stage would consist of another 22 camper van sites and 21 cabins.
The land is owned by Mr lan Wilson. Final arrangements for the sale of the land to Omnium In-
vestments will be made by November, Mrs Wilson said.
An ice arena was planned for the site but was never started. The council spokesman said the planning hearing would be on September 7. Construction could begin within two years of the council’s decision. Three objections to the ddjvelopment have been by the council.
