Youth questioned after dog dies
A youth, aged 17, has been interviewed by the Rangiora police in connection with an incident in which a dog had its throat slashed and was left to die on the banks of the Ashley River at the week-end.
It is not known yet if any charges will be laid against the youth.
The dog, a young bearded collie, was found alive by Ms Sally Chambers, aged 20, while she was out walking last Saturday morning. The veterinarian who put the dog down estimated that the wound had been inflicted about 24 hours earlier because of the dog’s congealed blood. c
