Fields for final day

Four North Island horses are among the 11 which will contest the Lion Brown New Zealand Grand National Steeplechase at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting at Riccarton on Saturday. The four are Region, from Taranaki, Storm, from Hawke’s Bay, Chimeric, from Woodville, the Stiles, from Tauherenikau. Region, which was third in the Australian Grand National at Flemington last month, is the topweight. The T.A.B. double will be on races seven and eight, the Avon City Ford Handicap and the International Trucks Winter Cup and the T.A.B. treble on races six, eight and nine, the Grand National Steeplechase, the Winter Cup and the Riccarton Park Function Centre Handicap. The T.A.B. trifecta will be on the Winter Cup. The jackpot will operate from races five through to nine. The pool starts at $1721.82.
