Computers and typewriters
One area not greatly affected by the "New Look” renovation at Turners, Ltd, has been the computer and typewriter shop. However, whereas it was previously a totally separate entity, it has now been incorporated into the main building.
It is directly linked to the photocopier showroom.
Turners represents some of the biggest and most respected names in the office-products industry, from photocopiers and facsimile machines, dictation equipment, business computers and electronic cash registers to what is perhaps the most comprehensive range of typewriters in Christchurch.
Last year, Turners was the No. 1 Amstrad computer dealer in New Zealand.
At a special function in Christchurch last week, Ricoh named Turners as its local distributor for Ricoh facsimile equipment — the largest selling
Japanese brand of facsimile in the United States. This is the first time this brand of facsimile equipment has been readily available, locally.
Also available from this division of Turners are all the normal peripheral equipment such as calculators — both for business and for school — computer games, a good range of computer printers, as well as watches and other items.
In fact, Turners’ range of products is not only geared towards larger business houses, but caters for the single operator as well as the home office.
Perhaps one of the most understated areas of Turners’ business is that of the service department. Maintenance and servicing of almost all product lines sold by Turners — as well as some not sold by the company — is undertaken on Turners’ premises in Colombo Street, and this is possibly unique for Christchurch.
