Six pacers stood down
Six pacers were stood down until such times as they perform to the satisfaction of a stipendiary steward twice at official trials for indifferent displays at the Timaru Harness Racing Club’s meeting yesterday. The horses concerned were: Royal Rand, Korosis, Rachael Dawn, Oil City Lady, Mannie and Auburn Chip.
No less than 33 trainers were each fined $25 for falling to confirm telephone nominations in writing to the club. % Those fined by the Chief stipendiary steward, Mr Peter Mackenzie, were: R. Beale, R. Bonnington, R. Dunn, J. Denton, B. Heron, C. McLachlan, D. Jones, P. Jones, D. Grice, P. Kerr, S. Little, D. Nyhan, R. Butt, D. Butt, P. Blackmore, C. Hay, G Middleton, A. Sutherland, E. Cowie, J. Russell, R. Tatterson, M. de Filippi, S. Moore, D. Bates, R. Court, J. Grant, D. Ottley, W. Ivey, R. Tayler, M. Pash, L Shinn, A. McCarthy and R. McNally. Veterinary certificates are to be produced by the trainers of Woodbury Cord and Princess Phillipa, which were late scratchings on the day, while an inquiry is proceeding into the late scratching of Mystic Wonder.
