Open day at Glenelg
An open day to celebrate the first day for sales of the 1987 Health Stamps will be held at the Glenelg Health Camp today.
The camp, on the Port Hills, features on the first day cover which will also go on sale today. It is the first time that a first day cover has been designed for a specific health camp.
People visiting the open day between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. will be able to have covers and stamps cancelled at a special post office being set up there for the day. About 100 volunteers will also sell stamps and covers from special booths in most suburban shopping malls. The stamps have been designed by primary school children and depict kite-flying, swimming, and horse riding. The first day cover was designed by Mrs Meta Whiteside, a Christchurch graphic designer. A post card of the camp, also designed by Mrs Whiteside, went on sale this week.
