Kaur ex ready to airfreight resin

Kaurex Corporation, < Ltd, expects to airfreight its first full range of wax and resin samples next month, the company says. In an interim report to shareholders, the chairman, Mr W. J. Strevens, says that the samples will be sent to the company’s overseas agents. Kaurex will be meeting their orders between eight and 12 weeks after that. This timetable is a little later than indicated at the annual meeting in March. The company needed to overcome some problems involving the screening of the peat. Peat granulation trials have been done to deal with the higher than expected proportion of extremely fine peat created by screening. The trials were successful and Kaurex is investigating installing a granulation plant, Mr Strevens says. No difficulties arose during the commissioning of the peat processing plant which threw doubts on the concept on which it is based. So far, 5 tonnes of wax

and resin have been extracted, and the commissioning process has now reached the refining stage, which is the final operation. Besides the company’s United Kingdom consultants furthering resin application studies to expand the known range of uses, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) in New Zealand was also undertaking research. The DSIR will conduct research to further identify resin compounds of added value which areavailable in the products. "The board has revised its financial projections to take into account extra costs expected and the delays in commissioning. The outlook for the project remains positive.” As reported, Kaurex incurred a loss of $1,686,000 in the six months to March 31, compared with a net trading profit of $65,621 in the previous year when the funds from the share float were put on fixed deposit.
