Labour leads in marginal seats

Labour has a 9 per cent lead over National in the country’s 10 most marginal seats, including Tasman and Waitaki, according to the latest “New Zealand Her-ald”-National Research Bureau poll. The mid-July poll shows Labour with a 44 per cent committed support, compared to National’s 35 per cent in the marginal seats.

Uncommitted voters are also leaning towards Labour by more than a two-to-one majority. The poll was based on telephone interviews with 30 voters in each of the 10 most marginal seats and is said to have a maximum statistical sampling error of 5.7 per cent. Details, page 3
