Roll figure

By

OLIVER RIDDELL

in Wellington

The number of voters on the new electoral rolls reached 2,108,815 by July 22 — the day the writ for the General Election was issued and the rolls closed. The Minister of Justice, Mr Palmer, said this was 953 up on the number enrolled for the 1984 election.

The rolls contained the names of people who had responded to the recent

poll revision, together with any new enrolment cards from electors that had been received at Post Offices by last Wednesday.

Although the roll had closed, he said some people could still enrol late if they had not already done so.

Mr Palmer said anyone with questions about enrolment should contact their local Registrar of Electors.
