Hitch-hiker found

A woman hitch-hiker who had not been seen for more than a week was found in Timaru yesterday.

The police had become concerned about Miss Katherine McCracken, of the United States, who had last been seen hitchhiking between Kaikoura and Wellington. Miss McCracken, aged 21, was found soon after lunchtime. “She was quite surprised anyone was looking for her,” said a police spokesman.
