‘Natural party’
Sir,—Labour’s reported intention to become “the natural party of government,” as advocated by Mr Peter Neilson, the Under-Secretary for Trade and Industry, reflects a philosophy with the most sinister of undertones. Dressed in “social democratic” sheep’s clothing lurks the body politic of that singular predatory the power-
hungry man. The design to infiltrate institutions by persuasion and elections slanted to encourage this singularity of purpose is blatantly advocated without the slightest concern for the principle of democracy — the absolute majority principle. Mr Neilson’s designs are not new. In fact, their ultimate effects over the past 60 years should have made such an indelible impression that no sane person would even contemplate them. The oneparty State, the corporate State, with their totalitarian suppression of democratic opportunities, permeate the seemingly innocuous ambitions of “single-party success” as promoted by Mr Neilson and covertly upheld by the National Party to be “the natural party of government” — Yours, etc., L. J. ROBINSON. July 19,|87.
