50 cases of A.I.D.S.

Fifty cases of A.I.DJS. have been reported to the Health Department, according to the latest figures. As at July 16, 50 cases comprising 49 males and one female had been notified to the department Of these, 21 had died, six had gone overseas, and the fate of 23 was unknown.

A.I.DJ. cases must be notified to the department but the presence of the virus, found through antibody testing, need not be notified. As at July 9, A.I.D.S. antibodies had been found in 256 people. Of these, 230 are male, eight are female and the sex of 18 is not stated.
