CLARRIE HAINES,
Canterbury branch, N.Z. Korean Veterans’ Association. July 14, 1987.
Sir,—ln my reply to Clarrie Haines (July 11) I noted the high price the Korean people are paying now, long after the 195053 civil war, not during it, as he now claims (July 16). Mr Haines originally complained that B. R. Hansen was repeating South Korea’s “enemies’ propaganda” then repeated official-line proganda himself. Three correspondents have now challenged his assertions. I know six people who have visited both South and North Korea, some several times, and they all said that progress and' real freedoms (guaranteed work, housing, health care and education) were far more evident in the north than the south of modem Korea. — Yours, etc., M. T. MOORE. July 16, 1987.
