Chch anti-crime meeting

A “Stamp out Crime” campaign has been organised by the Coalition of Concerned Citizens, with the support of the Police Association. A spokesman for the coalition, Mr Garry Milne, said four meetings would be held throughout New Zealand to raise funds for a television campaign to inform people about the true nature of crime, and the effects on the police

and private citizens. Guest speakers at the Christchurch meeting, at the Town Hall on August 4, will be a Police Association representative, Mr Graham Harding, and victims of crimes. Mr Milne said money raised by donation would be used in a television campaign to put pressure on the Government to solve violent crime. “We believe this can be

achieved. We are concerned with all factors that contribute to crime, as well as harsher penalties — unemployment, more police, and the availability of pornographic videos, which should be banned,” said Mr Milne. The Police Association supported the aims of the group, and would supply speakers for some meetings, he said.
