Inflation ‘decreasing’
The public should take into account the effect of GST on the latest inflation rate, says Dr Neil Cherry, Labour’s candidate for Fendalton. If the effect of GST was taken into account the real rate of inflation for the year to the end of
June would be about 11.9 to 12.9 per cent. That would mean inflation had steadily decreased since Labour came to power. “The quarter with the GST component stands out like a sore thumb,” Dr Cherry said.
