A pending retirement has provided this excellent opportunity for an experienced retailer with significant buying experience to be responsible for the overall performance and ongoing success of the Company. The successful applicant will work with the incumbent during a two month changeover period and be exposed to, and trained in, the Company systems and management controls. Candidates must be prepared to take an active interest in the operational areas, and a ‘hands on’ approach, as required. The Head Office is in Wellington City. REQUIREMENTS: • Proven profit centre management and understanding in a competitive retailing environment. • Sound leadership qualities combined with excellent inter-personal skills to relate effectively with both customers and staff. • The ability to oversee the practical implementation of successful marketing and merchandising strategies, while clearly understanding and empathising with tne key consumer target market segments. • Buying experience, preferably including direct importing, ideally with some knowledge and feel for dress and furnishing piece goods and/or manchester products. • Considering the experience and maturity required, it is likely that candidates will be in the 38-50 age range.
