Poll results vary widely
Polls taken in the Waitaki electorate recently have produced widely varying results with one giving the Labour Party a clear lead and the other narrowly favouring National. , A “Dominion Sunday Times” poll released on Sunday gave the sitting
Labour member, Mr Jim Sutton, 51 per cent support compared to 35 per cent for the national candidate, Mr Duncan Taylor. The margin for error was 6.5 per cent. A Television New Zealand poll shown on the Mainland Touch on Friday favoured Mr Taylor with 41 per cent support
ahead of Mr Sutton’s 39 per cent. The margin of error was 5.5 per cent. The “Sunday Times” poll was organised by two Victoria University political scientists, Dr Stephen Levine and Mr Nigel Roberts, who selected 255 people at random from the electoral roll.
