Wool prices

PA Wellington Minimum prices for wool have been increased an average of 7.5 per cent for the 1987-88 season, the Wool Board announced yesterday. The average minimum price has been increased from 443 c a kilogram clean (330 c greasy) to 476 c clean (355 c greasy). The board said the greatest minimum price increase was expected in fine wool because of an expected marked decrease in world availabilty in the new season. The strongest support will be for better grown and prepared wools. The minimum price scheme provides a guarantee of a minimum return to woolgrowers. The scheme is funded by woolgrowers and administered by the Wool Board.
