Brokers to merge
PA Wellington The Auckland Stock Exchange will on Monday lose one of its oldest broking firms, Creagh Harriman McKenzie and Co, when it merges with Wellington sharebroker, Jarden and Co., Ltd. The combined organisation will operate from new premises in the Simpson Grierson Building in Auckland’s Albert Street under the Jarden name. Jarden’s chairman, Mr Bryan Johnson, said the merger would give Creagh’s clients access to Jarden’s large range of financial services.
Jarden’s was strong in equity dealing, treasury, research and corporate advisory services, he said. Jarden’s has had a long association with Creagh’s. The 80-year-old firm has acted as Jarden’s Auckland agent for many years.
The three principles of Creagh’s will be involved in the merged operation.
Mr Richard Flower, who is also chairman of the Auckland Stock Exchange, and Mr Martin Harriman, will join the Jarden board. Mr John McKenzie will be an associate director of Jarden’s.
