Golf cup to Burnham
Burnham B won the Patterson Cup at Ellesmere when it beat Akaroa A in a suddendeath golf play-off at the fourth hole after the two teams had tied, 4-4. Five players from both teams were drawn by lot to contest the play-off, and it was decided in Burnham’s favour when Akaroa’s two final hopes both lost the fourth hole. Both teams will play at Kaiapoi on July 19 against the winner and runner-up from 2 the North Canterbury zone for the Ashby Befrgh and
Hindon McGuire trophies. Results.— Akaroa A 4, Burnham B 4 P. Wright halved with B. Eruera; B. Brownie beat O. Waugh, 2 and 1; G. Carter beat S. Reeves, 2 up; R. Luisetti beat K. Donaldson, 2 and 1: P. Churchill lost to J. Cowan, 3 and 1; R. Dunn lost to C. Bastion, 2 and 1; L. Bryant lost to L. York, 7 and 6; B. Morton halved with B. Joyce. B. Brownie and R. Dunn lost at first hole, R. Luisetti won at second hole, and G. Carter and L. Bryant lost at the fourth hole.
