Rogernomics
Sir,—lt is indeed obvious that a General Election is in the offing, as National Party propagandists such as Philip Hall and others vent their opinions upon us ad nauseam. These correspondents endeavour to belittle the present Government by quoting figures relating to the economy which are grossly exaggerated and, in some cases, appear to be little more than figments of imagination. I suggest that perceptive readers will ignore the emotive attacks on Rogernomics (which is here to stay, for better or worse) and concentrate on the anti-nuclear issue, which is far more important than any economic argument. Readers must remember that the return of National at the polls will mean a return to the embrace of nuclear arms and subjugation of our rights as a sovereign nation. — Yours, etc.,. R. L. PLUCK. June 29, 1987.
