Cure for hangover found?

NZPA-AAP London A British scientist claims to have found the ultimate cure for a hangover.

Dr Wayne Jones charted the bio-chemistry of hangovers and identified methanol as the main cause.

Dr Jones, head of alcohol research at the National Laboratory of Forensic Chemistry, at Linkoping, Sweden, said that as methanol broke down in the body it produced toxins which caused the familiar hangover feeling. He has developed a drug known as 4-methyl pyrazole which helps stop the breaking down of methanol.

Apart from the new drug, the doctor recommended those who drank to choose vodka because it was the most pure alcoholic beverage and the nearest thing to pure ethanol.
