A Staffordshire lorry driver, Ronald Richardson, and his family have been legally banned from their local pub for 80 years. Lawyers say the ban applied by the landlord, Graham Wray, Of the Bank House Pub in Hixon, is legally binding until the year 2067. Mr Wray sent the Richardsons out after an argument last year over darts with Mrs Olwyn Richardson, who used to run the women’s darts team at the Bank House.
Even though he has now sold the pub, Mr
Wray’s ban still stands. He made the new. owner agree to it as a condition of sale.
Mr Richardson, aged 48, says the ban does not surprise him. “It’s just the sort of thing you would expect from that man.”
Mr Wray says if he gets an. apology from the Richardsons the ban will be lifted. “I don’t want them to crawl but I do want them to say there has been a misunderstanding.” Meanwhile,, the Richardsons have taken their custom elsewhere, to the village’s only other pub, the Green Man.
