Insolvent
The Queen’s favourite fashion house has been declared insolvent. The House of Hartnell went to the High Court to be put into the hands of an administrator — a step down from an official receiver. The administrator has three weeks to re-finance the company founded by the designer Norman Hartnell. The demise of the firm is said to have followed Norman Hartnell’s death, and the move to younger designers by the new royals, Princess Diana and the Duchess of York. — London.
