Committee has new chairman
PA Wellington Mr Peter Scherer, editor of the “New Zealand Herald,” has been elected chairman of the editor’s committee of the New Zealand section of the Commonwealth Press Union.
Mr Rick Swinard, managing editor of the “Star,” Christchurch, was elected deputy chairman.
The committee is: Messrs Geoff Baylis (“Dominion”), Denis Garcia (“Daily News,” New Plymouth), Ken Hawker (“Daily telegraph,” Napier), Jim McLees (“Wanganui Chronicle”), Peter Muller ("Southland Times”), Rick Neville (“Evening Mail,” Nelson), Glenn Pettit (“Bay of Plenty Times”), and Derek Round (New Zealand Press Association).
