PA Dunedin The Democratic Party has chosen Mr J. W. Begley as candidate for Dunedin North. Mr Begley was born in Hastings in 1925. Now retired, he had a varied working life. After farming, he entered a mechanical trade, before joining the R.N.Z.A.R in 1943. After

this, he worked at the Taieri Air Force base, and later became a carpenter trainee and builder in Mosgiel. Mr Begley was in the Labour Party before he. joined the Democratic Party in 1984. Dunedin North was held for Labour in the 1984 General Election by Mr Stan Rodger with a majority of 5129.
