Code for sheep export figure

PA Wellington The Live Sheep Export Advisory Committee has approved a code of practice : to establish the annual number of sheep exported for slaughter, said its chairman, Mr Michael Connelly, yesterday. He said the code set out procedures “which are flexible and capable of meeting the requirements of the live sheep trade.” “This will speed up decision making on proposals to export — in

respect of which the Committee makes recommendations to the Minister of Customs who has the final say as to whether’ they 'proceed. “The procedure will give adequate opportunities for prospective exporters to enter the trade,” Mr Connelly said. The Committee invites persons and organisations who intend to export live sheep for slaughter in the* year from October 1, 1987 to advise the committee of their intention by July 8.
