Fijian soldier charged with assault

NZPA ’Suva „ A member of. the Fiji Army Territorials appeared in court in Suva yesterday charged in connection with injuries suffered by a'man now in Auckland Hospital. Isireli Lenati Tabua, aged 26, of Nausori, was charged with having, while off duty, committed an act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Ahmed Ali, aged 25, on May 30. The case was adjourned until July 2 without a plea being taken after the prosecution said it was awaiting a full medical, report from Auckland Hospital on Ali’s injuries. Ali was reported by relatives in New Zealand last week-end to have been in a coma since the incident. Tabua, who was freed on bail, also was charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm to an offduty policeman on the same day.
