NZPA staff correspondent London The defending chainpion, Marnie McGuire, of Auckland, failed to qualify for the British amateur women’s golf championships when she scored a second round 80 yesterday. McGuire, who became

the youngest winner of the championship this century when at 17 she won last year’s final, had a disastrous 88 in the first round. Her two-round total of 168 was 13 strokes away from the 32 qualifiers at the Royal St David’s course at Harlech.
