Terry Kennedy riding at Oamaru meeting

Special correspondent Dunedin Terry Kennedy, the former Wingatui apprentice who has been riding well in the Central Districts, has taken mounts at the Oamaru Jockey Club’s meeting on Monday. Kennedy has been engaged for Supreme Terror and Derry Donnell. He rode Supreme Terr'or to win at Wyndham and Omakau last season when he was at Wingatui with his father, Bryan Kennedy, who trains Derry Donnell. Yesterday morning Derry Donnell was paired with Double Acre and Merry Stride in a run over eight steeplechase fences inside the course at Wingatui. Double Acre, which has won twice over hurdles
this winter, shaped well. Derry Donnell, which finished third in a maiden hurdle at Wingatui at his most recent start on May 29, is in the race for apprentice riders on Monday. Kennedy has ridden 25 winners this season. He transferred to Peter Julius at Hastings 12 months ago and he has been with Evan Rayner at Marton since the New Year. Debbie Anderton resumed riding track work yesterday. She had injured her back in a fall at Wingatui 10 days
earlier. She has been engaged for Basha Feleka on Monday. Narrative looked bright yesterday when given two rounds of pacework by his trainer, Graeme Mee. He will race over 1410 m at Ashburton on Tuesday week as a lead up to Trentham. Liquidate, a winner at Gore on Tuesday, will not start at Oamaru on Monday. Auburn Rose, which showed promise early in the season, is back in the stable of Hector Anderton. ■
