Modern vehicles expand service
Mr Brian Anderson .had spent about 34 years in the insurance business when he, by chance, saw ..'a Chevrolet utility displayed at a motor show ?in Christchurch. His first thought was that he would like to own ‘one, but -he wondered what he could use it for, After discussing the ‘ possibilities of a freight service: with his « brother-in-law, Mr Tom McKay of Andimac Express whs established ' in February 1985. • Andimac » :• Express . started off ! with two
Chevrolets operating between Christchurch and Blenheim. Most of the freight was carried in a large trailer towed behind each vehicle. The long-distance hauls are now made by two Nissan six-tonne diesel trucks. “They are absolutely magic and they have each run more than 100,000 km in less than 12 months,” says Mr Anderson. Andimac now run several vehicles, including the two original Chevrolet utilities.
