Lotteries chairman appointed

PA Wellington A Wellington lawyer, Mr Chris Pottinger, has been appointed the first chairman of the New Zealand Lotteries Commission.

The Minister of Internal (Affairs, Mr Tapsell, announced the appointment along with those of four other members to the Commission during the official demonstration of equipment for the new gambling game, Lotto — expected to be ; played first in August

Mr Pottinger, who headed the interim New Zealand Lotteries Commission, had steered the organisation through a difficult six month period for introducing the game, Mr Tapsell said.
