(Final.) A four-part documentary that dispassionately recounts the history of apartheid in South Africa. Adapt Or Die: When P. W. Botha became Prime Minister of South Africa in 1978 he said his country must adapt or die — apartheid could not continue to be enforced as before. He visited the black township of Soweto. He promised important reforms. But the major one was a let-down. He gave seats in Parliament to Indians and Coloureds but none to the majority, the blacks. For them he conceded only urban councils. These soon became the target of young radical blacks. 9.40: NEWS. 9.55: RUGBY WORLD CUP. 10.55: FILM INTERNATIONAL. “Those Glory Days.” An autobiographical television movie about Julie Welch, football correspondent of “The Observer,” and her obsession with Danny Blanchflower and the Tottenham Hotspurs team of 1961.
