Week’s delay in admission

A Diamond Harbour woman will be admitted to a Sydney hospital for a heart transplant one week later than first expected. Mrs Adrienne Mackwell, aged 50, received notice yesterday that she would be admitted to St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney on June 8. Mr Lawson Little, the publicity officer of an appeal to raise funds for the transplant, said this was a week later than the date first given by the hospital. Mrs Mackwell’s condition had improved slightly with medication prescribed by doctors at St Vincent’s and she was feeling more comfortable knowing the transplant was not too far away, said Mr Little.

“According to her doctor, there is no increased risk to her by waiting another week. It also gives us another week to raise money.”
