Oamaru meeting postponed

Special correspondent Dunedin The Oamaru Jockey Club’s meeting scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed due to wet weather. The club hopes to race on Monday or Tuesday, but this will depend on the weather. Work needs tb be carried out on the track near the 600 metres, where the ground is shifty after maintenance.

The state of this portion of the track and the presence of surface water in the car parks, and in front of the totalisator, prompted the club’s decision to postpone. The track was inspected yesterday by Jock McCulloch, the senior stipendiary steward, who made a special trip from Dunedin. He held discussions with the club’s committee and track manager.
