Superannuation surcharge
Sir, —There is only one certainty in the next election — if the Government keeps on the superannuation surcharge it will lose the election. Of all the voters I have canvassed, 95 per cent condemn the super-taxing of an old person’s hard-won savings — and the broken promise not to. Although interest rates are huge, unemployment high and getting higher, inflation crippling the workers, and the dollar value crippling the farmers, it is the superannuation surcharge which people will remember and will blame the Government for directly, and with reason. Big businfess and rich people are paying big money to get this Government re-elected. That says it all! — Yours, etc., R. J. CAMERON. May 14, 1987. \
