National junior hockey tourney

Otago, Waikato and Canterbury are proving to be the strongest teams at the A.N.Z. national junior women's hockey tournament at Porritt Park in Christchurch. In the nine games they have played on the first two days of the tournament the three teams have scored an astounding 60 goals and conceded just three. The superior team-work and skills of the three are enhanced on the artificial surface. Last evening Waikato scored eight second-half goals to beat a hapless Southland team, 13-0. In section A, Northland is staying in touch with Canterbury. Each side has won its three matches to date. These two will meet tomorrow to decide the section A winner.
