Dalton may miss first match

PA Auckland The All Black captain, Andy Dalton, may not play in Friday’s World Cup opener against Italy at Eden Park. Dalton trained gingerly as the All Blacks went through an intensive three-hour practice at

Eden Park yesterday. The All Black coach, Brian Lochore, said later that Dalton had a slight hamstring injury and would not play on Friday unless he was 100 per cent fit.

“Andy is having treatment and getting better by the day but we will

only select players who are 100 per cent,” Mr Lochore said. “It’s just not worth the risk playing anyone with an injury. There, are a lot of games ahead in this World Cup tournament.” The All Black side to play Italy will be named today.
