Anti-nuclear spokesman

PA Auckland The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament has a new spokesman. He is Mr Dave Metzger, aged 58, a physics lecturer at the Auckland College of Education. Mr Metzger takes over from Ms Maire Leadbeater, who has stepped aside after four years in the role. Mr Metzger has a long background of campaigning against nuclear arms. Before settling in New Zealand in 1962, he was involved with C.N.D. in Britain. He also is a member of Scientists Against Nuclear Arms. Mr Metzger said the campaign would focus over the next few months

on ensuring the Government’s anti-nuclear legislation became law. Ms Leadbeater has I been appointed the campaign’s Pacific co-ordina-tor, with the aim of promoting' an independent and nuclear-free Pacific.
