The position is for up to (2} years, located at Togitogiga, Upolu, Western Samoa. The successful applicant will be required to take up the appointment by late July 1987. The appointee will be responsible to the Projects Manager of the Forestry Division of the Department of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries for the efficient day-to-day operation of the Upolu Forestry Project. For the first year at least this will be an in-line position but with emphasis on developing local staff. After a year the position will be revised to develop a counterpart as a second in charge. Applicants must have: . a) a minimum of five (5) years as a Station OC with a broad practical background in management and technical forestry; b) a minimum qualification of grade: NZFS 126.104 and preferably of grade 126.105. The appointee will provide sound technical and professional advice and assistance on all aspects of forest management and administration to the Regional Forestry Officers at the Savai'i-East and Savai'i-West Reforestation Projects. The forestry adviser is to act with the two RFOs as a joint management team.
