Guesswork eliminated from spa pool chemical treatment
Having a spa pool installed is only the beginning. Maintaining it to a healthy efficient level is a major struggle for many pool owners. A product being manufactured to help counter the hassles of pool chemical treatment are Strantrol Controllers — the model 710 for pH control and the model 712 for chlorine and bromine control. The pair can be purchased together or separately. The measuring of pH in a pool is very important for the acidity and alka-
Unity of the water. At a pH value above 8, the chlorine becomes relatively inactive resulting, possibly, in ineffective sanitation. A pH level below 7.2 causes bathing discomfort, and corrosion of metal fittings in the pool occur. A Strantrol Controller consists of an electrode installed in the water reticulation line. This measures the amount of chlorine or pH (depending on which model applied) required and sends a signal to the lead light display which gives a con-
stant read-out of what is needed.
The unit senses the need for chemicals and can then increase or decrease the output of chemical feed devices according to what is or is not needed. With any chemical depletion or a malfunction within the system a flashing red signal lights. Whether used in spas, hot tubs, or small recreational and therapy pools where small bodies of water combined with heavy usage and rapid changes can cause heavy
demand for treatment, Stantrol Controllers eliminate any guess work. The units, therefore, give adequate sanitation at all times.
The design differs from on/off controls because a spa under light use gets a light dose of chemicals, while a spa under heavy use can get a heavy dose. It all happens in a matter of seconds. Made in the United States, Strantrol Controllers are only available, in Christchurch, from lan Coombs, Ltd, a franchise holder of the product.
