Kidstuff activities at Malvern
A holiday programme with a difference was Colin Wesley-James’ aim for the Malvern Community Arts Council.
The Malvern area is an isolated one, and he reasoned that the programme would have to cover as many interests as possible.
It also had to be affordable for parents and encourage the children participating to be creative. The result is Kidstuff. It will be staged on May 18, 20 and 22 — one day in Darfield, one in Springfield and one in Hororata.
It includes printmaking, clay modelling, weaving, creative movement, clown workshops, fibre murals, creative junk classes, painting and storytelling, -first aid, horseriding, • video, computer program--ming, modelling, gymnastics, trampolining, . treasure treks, and games.
The activities will be split into two for teenagers and younger children.
The activities for the younger children will last for about 45 minutes; for
the teenagers about 90 minutes.
The programme has been arranged by the Malvern Community Arts Council. Colin WesleyJames was appointed organiser and the activities were set after a survey of local schools to find children’s interests.
Darfield High School pupils will provide help with the registration and administration of the programme as part of their course studies. Transport has been organised for children from outlying areas.
The Malvern County Council has donated $lOOO towards the project. Enrolments for the programme close tomorrow.
