Fewer bunnies, more words
NZPA-AFP Washington Faced , with a declining circulatiqn, 33-year-old "Playboy” magazine has decided to revamp its image.
In future, the magazine will have more articles and fewer bunnies, as the scantily or unclad ladies
who appear in the magazine are known, according to another magazine.
. “U.S. News and World Report” in its current issue said “Playboy” was regarded as “too tame” for real pornography aficionados and too risque for Christian activists who wished to have the magazine banned from newsstands.
But “Playboy” intended to remain faithful to its traditional “readers” — it would keep the nude centrefold and was currently trying to persuade Gary Hart’s actress friend, Donna Rice, to bare all for its subscribers, the magazine said.
Playboy spokesman Bill Paige was quoted by the news magazine as saying: “In the 19705, we had more American males coming of age than at any time in history. Now they are getting older.” Coinciding with the ageing of the United States male, the circulation of “Playboy” had fallen from more than seven million to 3.5 million today.
