Queenstown hotels offer array of facilities

Queenstown promoters maintain that it would take a lot of time and travel to hit upon another

spot offering the same special scenic beauty as Queenstown. The picturesque township is located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and is surrounded by a combination of snowcapped mountains and native forest. The distance from Christchurch, and the international airport facilities, is just 486 kilometres. As an ideal convention focus point, the hotels of Queenstown have learnt to offer facilities for both small and large conventions.

, The tourist activities and shopping provide ample variety for “freetime” and the nightclubs and restaurants enliven the evenings. Activity options in Queenstown are varied. Options currently available include rafting, jetboating, ski-ing through to trout fishing, golf and many more. Some of the hotels and their convention facilities in Queenstown include the following: LAKELAND REGENCY Lakeland Regency Hotel caters for the larger conventions, with 181 rooms overlooking Lake Wakatipu and a view of

the Remarkables mountain range.

There is a choice of two restaurants and two bars, and delegates can enjoy “time out” in the sauna or sixth floor heated swimming pool.

For the conference needs there are five meeting rooms with the largest catering for up to 500 people.

Lakeland’s service staff will be there to help delegates decide how to spend their days at a true destination resort. THE TERRACES HOTEL Located just a few minutes walk from the hub of Queenstown, The Terraces Hotel is an ideal locale for a conference venue. It is not a massive hotel where it can take forever to walk from the conference room to the restaurant. But it is not too small to cope with the most elaborate arrangements.

The Convention Lounge will comfortably accommodate 100 to 200 delegates, theatre style, and is equipped with comprehensive communication facilities.

Delegates can enjoy the atmosphere of Rocks Cocktail Bar or simply

relax around its open fire. Hillary’s Restaurant provides international cuisine with fresh local delicacies, while “Raffles Roof Top Cafe” turns into a seafood restaurant by night. ALPINE VILLAGE Set amongst four acres of landscaped lakeside grounds, Alpine Village offers views of the lake and mountains as well as perfect privacy. Resident proprietors, Dennis and Louise Winchester, have worked hard to blend their style of motel complex with the environment.

Until July 20, the Village is offering a special package with up to 30 per cent discount off regular rates for a conference or mini-meeting.

Providing a full range of services and facilities the Alpine Village is fully equipped to cater for numbers ranging from five to 50 delegates.

The licensed restaurant is famous for its roast meals which are carved and served at the table, and an inviting log fire in the cocktail lounge can usually tempt even the most fastidious delegate.

Three hot tubs and spa pools, nestled in native bush just above the lakeshore, provide the ideal touch for delegates to relax after a hard day of concentration. HYATT KINGSGATE QUEENSTOWN Commanding a spectacular position looking out to the township, foreshore, lake and mountains, the Hyatt Kingsgate Queenstown is a welcoming chalet-style hotel.

Just over 100 rooms, including two ‘ suites and ' two studios, are close to the township centre and 10 minutes from the airport.

Two private spa rooms provide an intimately relaxed way for delegates to unwind at any time of the day. And for the energetic, delegates can borrow the hotel’s 10-speed bicycles.

Hyatt Kingsgate Queenstown is big and uncompromising on service and quality, in the proud tradition of Hyatt throughout the world. There’s a delightful blend of European alpine style and smiling New Zealand hospitality.
