Botannix expands
Equiticorp’s Botannix Garden Centres, Ltd, now has a 40 per cent share of Auckland’s $3O million garden centre retail market after the purchase of its tenth site. The garden centre chain has just announced it has bought one of Auckland’s largest independent garden centres, Pettit’s Nurseries, in Mangere. The purchase is a cash sale which is effective from June 1. The purchase price was not disclosed. Botannix has trebled in size since it was established in April 1985 when it acquired three garden centres in Auckland. The chain now owns six sites in Auckland, three in Hamilton, and is developing a further site in Tauranga. It employs 130 staff.
