Asthma gift $4500

PA Wellington The Lottery Board has made a $4553 grant towards a research project on the sensitivity of asthmatics to certain stimuli. The money has been awarded to an associate professor of the Wellington Clinical School, Professor Peter Holst, for equipment and expenses.

The board said Profes-. sor Hoist’s research could provide a way ( of assessing, how effective certain; drugs were in the treat-" ment of asthma. Professor Holst is testing the theory that the success of longterm drug therapy in asthma depends on suppressing the hypersensitivity of the asthmatic’s bronchii.
