Double Acre jumps well

PA Dunedin Double Acre boosted his prospects for. a North Island campaign when he jumped batten hurdles Impressively at Wingatui yesterday. He was ridden by his regular jockey, Angus Mavor, who made a special trip from Riverton for the trial.

“He is a nice leaper. He does everything you ask of him and sets up beautifully,” Mavor said after Double Acre had outjumped Derry Donnell over six fences. Double Acre is booked to fly from Christchurch to Auckland next Wednesday for the Allegra Park Waikato Hurdles three days later and the Tanalith Northern Hurdles on May 30. He is engaged in the DB Draught Hurdle at Ascot Park on Saturday. The winner of that race is in line for return air travel from Christchurch or a $l5OO travelling subsidy from the Auckland Racing Club for the Tanalith Northern.
