Rugby sponsor
The promotion of junior rugby at club, school and national levels is the target of a new sponsorship gained by the New Zealand Rugby Union. The amount of money involved has not been disclosed, but the sponsor, Eta Foods, made a "generous commitment” according to the N.Z.R.U. council chairman, Mr Russell Thomas. A host of j’unior teams and the national under-17 and under-19 tournaments will be sponsored by the company. It will make grants to the clubs and schools backing the first 1000 under-14 junior teams to apply. But they will have to be quick. Applications close with Andy Haden’s Sporting Contacts group on May 15.
